Founder Treasurer

M. Bhoj Reddy

(1919 - 2001)

Mamidi Bhoj Reddy was born into an agricultural family in Shamshabad Village, on the outskirts of Hyderabad. He studied at Osmania University and, although trained as a lawyer, he never practiced law. He actively participated in the Hyderabad Liberation Movement.

He served as Chairman of the Ranga Reddy Zilla Parishad for three consecutive terms from 1962 to 1976, the longest tenure of any Zilla Parishad chairman in Andhra Pradesh at that time. He was widely respected for his integrity, distinguished work, and commitment to local governance, and he retired from politics soon after the Emergency of 1975.

Bhoj Reddy was a passionate advocate for the public library movement, serving as Chairman of Hyderabad Granthalaya Samstha and holding office in the Andhra Pradesh Granthalaya Samstha for several decades. He played a key role in the establishment of hundreds of public libraries across Andhra Pradesh. He was also actively associated with the Co-operative Banks Association and the AP State Co-operative Union for ten years.

A firm believer in the empowerment of women and girls through education, he served as the Founder Treasurer of Sangam Laxmibai Vidyapeeth.
