
K V Ranga Reddy
Konda Venkat Ranga Reddy (1890 – 1970) was born into an agricultural family in Peddamangalaram Village, Moinabad Mandal, Ranga Reddy District. He studied law and practiced at the High Court of Hyderabad, and also served as a law educator. A freedom fighter, he actively participated in the Hyderabad Liberation Movement.
He served as President of Hyderabad Andhra Mahila Sabha in 1948 and was one of the founder-members of the Hyderabad State Congress. He held key political positions, including Cabinet Minister in the Hyderabad State and Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh after the state’s formation. In recognition of his contributions to public service, the Government of Andhra Pradesh named his native Hyderabad Rural District as Ranga Reddy District.
He was a founder-member of the Andhra Vidyalaya Education Society, which established the first Telugu Medium High School in the Nizam’s Dominion of Hyderabad, making it one of the oldest educational societies in the twin cities.
A firm believer in the empowerment of women and girls through education, he served as the Founder President of Sangam Laxmibai Vidyapeeth, an educational society dedicated exclusively to the education of girls and women.
